A day to always remember

Yes. It finally happened. My one and only daughter got married last Saturday. As I write these words she is on her honeymoon- and I am trying to adjust to the idea of having a son-in-law. The week before the wedding my son downloaded "Butterfly Kisses" to see if he could make me cry. (it didn't work)

I have to tell you that parts of the celebration were exactly how I imagined it- beautiful gathering of friends, folks, and family from around the country. A hot Atlanta evening. The amazing setting of Piedmont Park. My daughter was beautiful (though even more stunning and beautiful than I imagined she would be). At some level I expected all of that.

There were two things in particular though that did surprise me:

1) How fast it all went by. The week or week and a half leading up to the wedding felt like the fastest roller coaster I had ever ridden. When the day was over it all came to a very abrupt stop. The investments of preparation, prayer, and communication had quickly come and gone. (I am thankful for photos and a video that will help re-live the moments in the future).

2) I sensed an amazing peace- no doubt the answer to many prayers. A quiet confidence and the presence of Jesus. Walking through each step of the day with me- bringing a peace that passed human understanding. I am very grateful to God for making this day one I will remember and be grateful for the rest of my life!

Thanks for praying for the life Jason and Shereen will share together as husband and wife.

Memorial Day

This is a time that we remember all those courageous soldiers who fought and died in service for our country. I truly feel blessed to be living in this free country, and it is due to all those that serve in our armed forces.

I think this bible verse can serve very well to those that died for our freedom- "Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends." (John 15:13)

Take time to remember our fallen this weekend. I found this great song by Avalon called "For Freedom". God bless our military!

Have a wonderful and safe Memorial Day weekend!

A little Friday laughter!

My daughter Maddie introduced me to the work of Christian comedian Tim Hawkins. Funny stuff! Hope you enjoy it!

Happy Friday!

What's Next

Welcome to my first J93.3 blog! It's an exciting time. Time to let my heart and mind speak via the internet. I can speak, but writing!? (Okay, God... let the fingers do the talking for You!)

There's been a lot on my heart about the future. What does God have in store for me, for you, for the station, for our community? We don't know, but He certainly does (Jeremiah 29:11 is where I always keep coming back to...)

The one thing I do know- we HAVE to do it with God! As much as we want to control the situation, our path and our decisions, we can't do it alone! HE has to be with us, and we must succumb to HIS will. God, after all, wants good for us. We need to trust Him, because we can't do it all by ourselves.

If you, like me, are struggling with that, open up to God, and let Him calm your fears, and guide you.

Please feel free to comment, post a prayer request, share with others your story.

Blessings to you! Until next time...
